Biography:

Blaze is SUPER smart! He has been taught sit, lay, shake, bump, and turn. He is currently working on enter, exit, and general recall. He loves licking from peanut butter mats and table food rewards for high-motivation.

Blaze also loves time outdoors, going for daily half hour walks, and going to the dog park. He walks easy on a leash and corrects well. At the dog park, he doesn't play with other dogs much, but he loves to meet new dogs and sniff the park up and down. He is so friendly when out on the town loving head pats from humans and exchanging sniffs with other pooches.

Blaze would prefer a home with a fenced in yard to go in and out of as he pleases and someone who wants to take him along for adventures. He is able to consistently stay at home alone (uncrated) for a work day, but does best if he can get interactions (like walks or "chase" in the backyard) throughout the day. While Blaze has done great with older children (approximately 5+), he does not exhibit spatial awareness or extra care around young children which can result in knocking them over in zoomie fits, etc. Blaze would also appreciate a home as an only pet; he HATES cats and has not been friendly with visiting dogs while in his home. Blaze in general is not fond of visitors in his home which has been managed with separation through another room/crating/outdoor time.

Reason for re-homing:

Since adopting Blaze from MACC, we have treated and cured his heartworms. However, this has increased Blaze's energy levels from a "couch potato" to moderate. He currently enjoys more walks/activities than we are able to provide. Additionally, we are expecting a new child and Blaze is best suited to a family with older children.
