Pet’s Information

Pet’s Name: Blaze

Biography:

Blaze is 2-years old, very active, and playful. She is a pack dog, meaning she loves to be with other dogs, but would be best with another large breed. She is capable of being with a small breed, but has only recently been introduced to smaller dogs and doesn't know her strength. She can have reactive issues to some large dogs...we don't know why she can be best friends with one dog and really upset with another dog at first meeting. She's never had a bad reaction to any human we meet, though she will protect our home and family if she feels threatened. She is a mouser (killed probably a dozen mice so far and one rabbit), so if you have small non-canine animals, she may not be a good fit for you.

Blaze is intelligent and athletic. She easily learned over 10 commands in a very short time. She has been an outside dog, and so has not been house trained, but could learn. She loves heights, runs, and riding in the back of our truck. She loves chasing hares, lizards, and birds, her squeaky ball, and rough play with other dogs.  She is definitely a jumper - I've even seen her do some cool parkour off the house. The only thing she hates seems to be water.

We are hoping to find a good, country style home and family for this sweet, energetic girl with plenty of space to roam and another dog friend to keep her company while her humans are at work and school. Another potential good fit would be one where she could be trained to do a job like herding or hunting to keep her active and prevent boredom.

Breed: German Shepherd/Black Mouth Cur Mix

Date of Birth: February 15, 2021

Reason for re-homing:

She recently jumped our 6-foot masonry wall into our neighbor's yard when she heard his small dogs outside. She immediately started chasing them (she plays that way as most dogs do). He got a rifle and was hunting her. On another occasion, he threw rocks at her and threatened to kill her. We love Blaze and want her to be safe. She is energetic, but would not have intentionally hurt his dogs. My kids are devastated, but we hope to find an awesome, new (and safe) home for her.
