Pet’s Information

Pet’s Name: Cole

Cole came to us off the street when he was only a few months old. We believe he was kicked out of a home in our neighborhood when their dog had a litter with a stray. He is an extremely affectionate pup who would prefer attention and cuddles over treats, though he'll gladly take the treats too. He desires a lot of attention, frequently placing his paw on you to remind you that he still exists and is requiring of pets. He is roughly 45 pounds and around 24 inches in length from snoot to butt which is at the upper end of what most would classify as a lap-dog, but he will gladly show you how well that definition fits if you let him.

Cole has some things he needs help working on. He is a skittish pup. He takes a few minutes to warm up to new people, and new dogs make him very nervous and cause him to resource guard high-value treats and people. With some dedicated one on one training in a controlled environment, he can overcome those challenges. Even without such training, he will fit in well at a home where he gets ample attention and doesn't have other dogs to worry about. We don't recommend a home with children unless you're committed to the before mentioned training to ensure that he is confident and comfortable with meeting and interacting with new people quickly.

His favorite treats are chicken flavored training nibbles, Peanut Butter, the occasional Milkbone, and sliced bread (He REALLY likes sliced bread).
He enjoys walks outside, playing fetch, cuddling, treat hide-n-seek, and will chase a laser pointer for well over an hour without getting bored.

It is best to trim his front claws once every two weeks. He is a bit uncomfortable with the process, but will sit still enough if petted between snips.
He eats between 3 and 4 cups of food per day, and we have been feeding him Blue Buffalo® Life Protection Formula™ Adult Dry Dog Food - Natural, Chicken. That brand is available from most pet stores at around $65 per 30 pound bag. That amount is enough to feed Cole for around two whole months.
He is fairly cooperative when it comes to bath time, we use a peanut butter lick matt stuck to the side of our shower to keep him preoccupied while we wash him down.
He sheds a decent amount, so if you have problems with a lot of dog hair, he may not be the one for you.
We love him very much and want him to find a home where he can have the life he deserves and not be stressed out as much. He is a very good boy.

Reason for re-homing:

Cole needs an environment that is less stressful for him. Ideally a home where he is the only dog and there is not a lot of coming and going. Our home has several dogs and cats, and a number of roommates that all come and go at random times. This causes Cole unnecessary stress and keeps him from gaining the confidence and independence that would make him supremely happy. He needs space of his own and the kind of focused attention that is most tenable in a one dog home.
