Owner’s Name:Kyle and Jackie Nelson
Pet’s Name: Samsa
Samsa wants to please - though he has his stubborn, quirky Boxer moments - and is a typical friendly Boxer that desires to play like a boxer (wrestling, "boxing"). He is very good natured, good with our cat (if only the cat wanted to play) and children. He hasn't had a lot of consistent play with other dogs other than some occasional time at a doggy daycare before he turned one year. He would love another dog housemate or regular play at a dog park.
Samsa knows basic commands (some in German) and loves to practice with treats. He is crate trained and house trained: he rings a bell hanging on the door handle to go outside to potty. He has a lot of energy and if he is bored he will dig (when outside) or find things to chew if he doesn't have his toys handy. We have had a hard time training him NOT to jump up when greeting people since we bought him during the height of the pandemic.
He is up to date on vaccines, though his rabies vaccine is nearly due. Flea and tick prevention has been over the counter brands.
He is used to someone being home most of the time except for errands, events or other small chunks of time. We want him to find a home where he is a part of everything going on with a lot of engagement and plenty of exercise. Samsa would be a loyal addition to any family with or without kids, with or without cats.
Date of Birth: August 15, 2020
Re-Home Fee: $500
Reason for re-homing:
This was our family's first dog and after trying for a year, it seems this breed has not been a good fit for our family with three young children. Not because we have children (Samsa loves people and has never been aggressive) but because our family lifestyle and energy does not match with the zeal and size of the Boxer breed. He responds well to basic commands but we cannot meet the play or exercise needs necessary for a boxer, or any dog at this time in our life. We ultimately want to rehome our dog to someone who will provide Samsa all he desires and deserves to thrive and become a part of a family for his entire life.
