Pet’s Information

Pet’s Name: Taylor

Taylor is in her search for her forever home era! Taylor is a 3 year old chow/golden mix who is incredibly dog friendly, however is apprehensive of strangers. Shes up to date, heartworm negative, spayed, and overall a very healthy girl. She was recently taken in by a rescue in Tampa due to her prior owner no longer being able to care for her. She has completed a full 3-week board and train during which she worked on stranger reactivity, basic obedience, and overall handling skills. She loves other dogs and plays really well with them and is now able to be handled by majority of the staff in the kennel. She is extremely sweet and cuddly with her trainer and multiple kennel staff, and they are able to handle her without any issues, however that did come after slow and proper introductions. Taylors largest feat is when she initially meets someone she does not want to interact and can sometimes bark and lounge. Though I understand this can be a challenging dog to place, especially in this economy, once she is comfortable she is a total doll! She has done really well with her prior foster family, their neighbors, multiple staff members, as well as myself when I worked with her recently. Unfortunately, the rescue she was under did not feel comfortable placing her and planned on euthanizing her this weekend due to a recent meet and greet they scheduled resulting in her lounging when they shifted in their chair. Her reactivity is not based in fearfulness or insecurity, she truly just does not enjoy being overly handled or strangers in her space (much like a person who is not overly fond of strangers), with that being said though, she has so much love to give once she is properly introduced and forms a relationship with the new person. Luckily her trainer and her trainers fiancé refused to let Taylor be killed by the rescue who pledged to save her and they took her to continue looking for her forever home. She requires a home ideally with breed (chow) experience, no kids, willingness to do multiple meet and greets to ensure a successful send home, and someone willing to understand her and give her a chance. She will come with free training to ensure her forever home is as happy and successful as can be ❤️
