Pet’s Name: Finley
Biography:
Looking to rehome our 5 year old Blackmouth Cur mix dog. She goes by Finley but also Finley Rose, Finley Sue, Fenty, and whatever names we come up with on any given day! She is extremely smart, loving, and protective dog. But she also has a lot of anxieties that make her timid. She is crate trained and can go 8-12 hours alone without any issues or accidents. We do have a second dog and they do well together. We’ve have had Finley since she was 6 weeks old- I adopted/rescued her from an overpopulation type of situation on a farm in Florida. I have been her only owner!
Finley is all up to date on vaccines and heart worm tests. She gets an annual flea/tick vaccination as well as an annual heart worm vaccination, and her most recent heartworm test came back negative. She is very healthy and not on any medication. She has Trazodone as needed for social settings, or when there are a lot of stimuli at the house. But she will thrive best in a house that doesn’t have babies or small children (she is great with children 12 years or older), or even other animals unless the other dog is very non-reactive and you put a lot of time and patience into getting them acclimated with each other. She also doesn’t do great on walks where she can see other dogs because she is leash reactive and acts aggressive when in a situation where she is scared (which is when she is on a leash and feels like she can’t get to the other dog or needs to protect her owner, so she reacts). So a fenced yard and/or land would be best to alleviate stress on Finley and the owners.

Reason for re-homing:
Finley is a sweet, shy, timid girl. She is also incredibly smart! She lives with another dog, but it took a lot of time to desensitize her to another dog. So ideally a home/family with no other dogs, no cats, and no small children. She has a lot of anxieties that we can medicate as needed, but she doesn’t take anything daily at the moment. She has been adding a lot of stress to our household in terms of going on walks near other dogs or being able to have small children around. And we don’t want to, but unfortunately this is what we are going to try because some days we have to put her in the crate when other dogs or children are at the house or give her anxiety medication and we don’t want her to live like that as we plan to have small babies in the house.
