If you’re searching for a gentle, calm, and sweet-natured companion, Dakota is your dog. This beautiful girl absolutely lives for pets, kisses, and walks. She is very comfortable meeting new people, even kids, and will snuggle up to them for pets and scritches. I have never seen her nip or bark at a new person. Dakota adores everyone she meets and finds true joy in lounging around, soaking up affection, and receiving nose and belly rubs.
Dakota is almost three years old, a quiet, easygoing girl who thrives in a peaceful environment. No barking at the mailman or people walking by. She likes simply being near her person, whether snuggled up in her kennel, resting by your side, or following you around the house. Unlike most shepherds, she’s not really a shadow. She likes to be near, but she’s OK in-house, in her kennel or in the car waiting for you to come home. We have never had her destroy furniture while being alone for several hours.
Dakota’s favorite thing is a walk. She does not play fetch, tug, or frisbee. So, she won’t drive you nuts by always putting a ball in your lap, expecting you to play when you are working or relaxing. She has a very low prey drive, but she gets happy and excited when you grab the leash. She’ll occasionally get the zoomies outside, but just for a minute. Dakota enjoys leisurely walks, making her a great companion for someone who loves a slow, easygoing lifestyle. Dakota is neutral to other dogs walking by: no pulling or barking. She is great on walks either on or off leash, with a solid recall. You get the security of a shephard without the aggression. She knows sit but doesn’t stay well.

Dakota is a sweet, loving dog, but she has little to no drive. She gets very excited about taking walks, but does not play ball or tug. I'm wanting a dog with more drive. I did not have a chance to vett her and cannot return her to her previous owner, who sold her because no one was spending any time with her. She would be perfect for a new forever owner who is looking for the intelligence, loyalty and love of a GSD without the drama, chewing, barking and aggression. I am listing her for what I paid for her.
