Pet’s Name: Dutchess
Biography:
I purchased Dutchess from the same Breeder (Ashland, Ohio) we got her sister (the smaller 6 year old shepherd) from. Same dad but mothers were cousins. Dutchess is now 3 years old and 3 months. She is a loving dog but skittish with strangers. Barks a lot when they come into her home, then settles down. Her and her sister get along but as two females will do, they have 3 times fought each other for dominance. She hates fireworks, gets scared. She plays with her sister and loves the backyard. Hard to get her in at times. We are raising 3 grandkids and she is fine with all of them including a 1 year old. We have a cat that they are usually separated from but when they have to go past her, she sniffs the cat and keep moving to go outside. Two times now she has nipped someone. No blood. One was a young man running up our steps behind my granddaughter and her 6 month old old baby. The other time my sister in law from Chicago visited at Thanksgiving and showed the dog she was afraid of her and when she came in the kitchen and sat down, Dutchess nipped, again, no blood. She has dug holes in the back yard and as some dogs do, eats poop. I don’t know how she is with dogs in our home other than her sister because we have not had any over. However, when I take her to the vet or groomer, she has no problem with them there or getting groomed. Her vet and groomer is Petsmart Parma, Ohio. She has no medical problems and is up to date on all vaccines, heart wormer prevention and flea and tick prevention. We have all her papers. I would say the best home environment for her would be no female dog, a male dog should be ok, children is fine, a big gated backyard for her to run (she will run away without a leash), or someone to walk her! Again, she is 120-125 lbs but is fine on a leash but you have to remind her not to pull. I am 75 years old. Having developed a rare progressive heart disease, I cannot work with her anymore because I get winded easily. If I was sure I would still be a round here is 3-5 years, she would not be leaving me.

I am 75 years old and have developed a rare progressive heart disease that prevents me from actively doing any thing wirh Dutchess. She weighs 120lbs (she is the large one in the pics. The one on the couch she is on the right) and I get short of breath. She is prayed and in excellent health. We live in North Royalton, Ohio. We have a smaller shepherd and she is a therapy dog but only weighs 65lbs so we will keep her.
