Biography:
Felix was abandoned (found near the road) in December 2024 and temporarily fostered by a relative of the current owner. He was checked and given a clean bill of health at that time with a birthday estimated around late November 2023. Since then he has been neutered, microchipped, given updates on all required vaccines, and was just tested for heartworm (clean). He has not yet started heartworm or other preventative medication, but as of 6/20/25 he has a clean bill of health. He has no known medical issues.
Felix is an active dog and loves to run and play. He needs to be exercised for long periods, preferably 1-2x per day. He also loves to use rope toys and play tug-of-war as well as ripping open stuffed toys or squeaky toys. He is a big chewer- he will chew anything and everything that he can reach. His chewing subsides if he is exercised and played with for several hours per day. He does well with other dogs and wants to play with them- he has been socialized at daycare and he is well-behaved in off-leash dog parks. He is crate trained for sleeping and knows a few commands (sit, lay down). He enjoys the outdoors, including hikes or wilderness walks. Unfortunately he does not do well with young children as he is very energetic when playing and will jump and nip. He would do well in an active household with older children (teens) and exercise-conscious adults where he has room to run.

Felix is a good dog but not a great fit with our household. He is very high energy and needs lots of exercise (minimum 1-2 walks per day) and active interaction with handlers. He is a big chewer and he can get destructive if he does not have enough exercise or enrichment. He can get overly excited when playing and wants to nip and jump. We are struggling to keep up with his needs while maintaining our work schedules; we want him to have a happy and fulfilled life and we simply can't meet all of his needs.
