Pet’s Name: Gouda
Biography:
Gouda is the Big Cheese. He enjoys his namesake and is not very picky, making him very food-motivated. He is leash-trained, litter box trained, up to date on all shots. He has high energy, and loves to play chase. He likes to burrow under blankets, drape across your stomach, and can tell when you are sad or frustrated. He is "gouda" at comforting or just being there when you need it.
Gouda is also wary of strangers. He will require a patient and experienced owner that understands he needs his space. He can be independent at times and will play by himself for hours. He loves tiny springs, piles of packing paper, bouncy balls, and silver vine sticks. He prefers to scratch on carpeting/soft fabric, so having something similar set up will save your couch.
We hope that Gouda can go to a single-pet household and live out the rest of his life as a spoiled indoor cat.

Reason for re-homing:
Gouda is at his most relaxed when he is not around other cats. He came to us as a stray and grew up around dogs. He learned to play rough because of this. We slowly integrated him into a merged household of two established cats, which did not appreciate his ambush-style rough play. We tried behavioral therapy, training, pheromones, supplements, and settled on keeping the cats separate. Long-term, this has not had positive impact on Gouda's life. It's been heartbreaking to know we cannot give him what he needs.
