Pet’s Name: Hernie
Biography:
Our sweet cat Hernie is looking for a warm, loving home to call his own.
Hernie is believed (by his vet) to have cerebellar hypoplasia, a condition he was born with that affects his coordination and the way he walks. We affectionately say he walks like a little raccoon! He gets around fine — he just can’t jump. The vet assures us this condition causes no pain, and cats with it can live long, happy lives.
Hernie is incredibly affectionate — he loves being brushed, will ask for pets, and is 100% litter box trained. We rescued him from my grandparents’ farm, where he spent the first six years of his life mostly in their bedroom. Since joining our home, he’s truly come out of his shell, even getting along well with our two dogs.
While he does fine with dogs, we do have to keep a gate up since his food needs to stay on the ground. We think Hernie would thrive best in a calm home where he can roam freely and receive lots of attention and love.
It breaks our hearts to rehome him, but we truly want him to have the time, love, and attention he deserves.
If you or someone you know would love to give Hernie the cozy, caring home he’s looking for, please reach out — we’d love to tell you more about him.
