Pet’s Name: Lab Rats
Biography:
These 4 rats tested mazes and did memory tasks for the psychology department at our local university. With the closure of the rat lab, they were slated to be fed to zoo animals, so we agreed to take them all, hoping we could find good homes for them instead. We made makeshift cages for them while new homes are sought. However, it's been 4 weeks and we've only been able to rehome 3 of the original 7...leaving these 4 still in need of a more permanent home. They are getting less tame as time goes on because we don't have time to play with them. They deserve someone patient who can help them socialize like normal rats again, give them a good place to live, and enable them to be the friendly pets they were born to be!

Reason for re-homing:
The local college's rat lab closed, leaving 4 male rats without a home and in danger of being fed to zoo animals. My coworkers and I felt compelled to rescue them, but none of us can keep them. We have them in make-shift cages that they do not enjoy, and they seem to be getting less tame as time goes on because none of us have time to play with them.
They have varying levels of socialization, but due to being kept in isolation for their entire lives, do not like to be with each other and will fight if housed together. We are desperate to get them rehomed with people who can understand their needs and give them the patience and care they deserve.
