Pet’s Name: Maggie
Biography:
Meet sweet senior Maggie who, at 13, just gets sweeter every day!
Maggie has lost her home because her owner, a senior herself, could no longer care for her and asked for the family’s help in finding Maggie a new home. This small (12 lb.) pup is a Malti-Tzu – a blend of Maltese and Shih Tzu. She had a very quiet life with her former owner, and we’d like to find her a home where she’ll have a similar lifestyle...lots of attention and love in a peaceful and calm environment.
Maggie is currently being confined to the family’s spacious kitchen, because the other, larger dog in the home doesn’t understand it (naturally) when Maggie’s limited vision (glaucoma) causes her to inadvertently bump into him – which then causes him to react negatively to her. So we are hoping Maggie can live out the rest of her years in a home where her limitations are understood and accepted, and where she’ll feel cherished for being the good and happy girl she has always been – and where she can have the run of the house again and not be confined to one room.
She has a condition called “dry eye,” for which she takes prescription eye drops twice daily, plus drops for glaucoma once daily. The vet said that she may have had a mild stroke this past summer, and when she’s not sleeping, she seems to sometimes do a bit of pacing and panting. This behavior may be due in part to the stroke, which has caused her some anxiety, but it may also be Maggie’s way of expressing her need and desire for more time, attention, and cuddling than her family can currently give her.
Maggie is a quiet passenger when in the car, and she does extremely well at vet appointments and also with her groomer. Both of them love her and say she’s an absolute sweetheart! She is very well house-trained and is not at all a barker – and she has a very cute little snore!
Maggie is spayed, microchipped, is up-to-date on her vaccinations, and is currently on heartworm and flea prevention. Her adoption fee is $350.00
Forever Home Canine Rescue offers a three-week trial period with all of our adoptions, just to be sure that the pet is a good match for the adopting family. The fee is refunded if the adoption does not work out within the trial period. We want to be sure that each of our pets will have the perfect "forever" home!
Forever Home Canine Rescue adopts out-of-state, but we never ship or transport our pets. An approved adopter must come to North Carolina to meet their new canine companion and then take him/her back home with them.
