Pet’s Name: Sausage
Biography:
Breed: German Shepherd Mix/Lab/Golden Retriever/Husky
Age: 4 years old
Health: Up-to-date on all shots and vaccinations. heartworm negative.
Personality:
Sausage is a healthy, excellent guard dog who takes his job very seriously. With his German Shepherd genes, he is loyal, brave, and highly protective of his family. He may not warm up to strangers immediately, but with patience and time, he can become friendly. Sausage is incredibly loving and sweet to his family, and he has made a few selective doggie friends, although he does not get along with cats and has shown aggression toward certain other dogs.
Sausage loves going on walks and is very playful. His favorite activity is a delightful sequence: running, jumping, landing on the ground, and rolling over to give himself a back massage on the grass. He knows several tricks and is both house/potty-trained and crate-trained.
He is not a fan of bath time—he treats it like a personal betrayal and will do anything to avoid getting wet. Swimming is similarly off his list of favorite activities. He sometimes feels like the world is a bit too overwhelming, but a few extra belly rubs can help him feel more at ease. Sausage also has a unique take on fetch that adds an element of surprise to playtime. While he’s not exactly into retrieving balls, he’s perfected the art of grabbing the ball and then playing a thrilling game of “catch me if you can.” After he scoops up the ball, he’ll dash off with it, daring you to chase him. It’s his way of turning a simple game into an exhilarating workout for both of you. If you’re up for some high-energy fun and a bit of a chase, Sausage’s ball antics are sure to keep you entertained!
Sausage has had two bite incidents: once when a stranger approached our door and another when he bit our neighbor out of fear. These incidents were directly related to his protective and fearful nature. I am heartbroken at the thought of rehoming him, but my current situation makes it impossible to keep him, and my neighbor feels unsafe with him around. Sausage is a good dog at heart who just needs the right environment—one that understands his needs and can manage his behaviors safely. He would do best in a calm, structured home without frequent visitors, where he can feel safe and continue to thrive with the right support. With patience, understanding, and the right care, Sausage will make a wonderful and loyal companion to a family that appreciates his protective instincts and is committed to managing his behavior responsibly.
I would be immensely grateful if anyone could give him the opportunity for a new, loving family.

Reason for re-homing:
He bit a neighbor, and as a result, my neighbor no longer feels safe with him around. Given Sausage’s protective and fearful nature, it’s become clear that he would benefit from a home where he can receive the appropriate management and support. I want to ensure he finds a safe and suitable environment where he can thrive.
