Pet’s Name: Joseph
Biography:
I adopted Joey (Joseph) from the shelter about 8-9mos ago. He is a very sweet, quiet and curious boy. There are no medical issues. He is up to date on all of his vaccinations.
He surprisingly enjoys being in/near water. Bathing is no issue, he's mostly scared of the dryer. He loves his automatic water bowl more than a stationary one. No issues with dehydration. There is an automatic feeder, he gets about 1 cup every 3-4hrs. (The automatic feeder doesn't use actual cup sizes so I'm not sure if it's really one cup, but it's one serving every few hours.) There are sometimes leftovers in the bowl between meals. He does not enjoy wet cat food, though he loves sneaking into my yogurt. He's good about not scratching furniture or chewing on cords. He'll smell guests, but usually leaves them be after the initial encounter.
He meows when it's time to clean his litter box. I use Sustainably Yours - it does wonders on the smell.
We've got a few plushy toys that get stuck under the couch often, but he enjoys the catnip mice. He slightly grew out of the laser and cat tunnel.
I only have a one bedroom and he doesn't have much space to explore. I've also tried to make friends with the neighbors' cat. Joseph was receptive, but the other cat was not. We tried a few times, but we stopped because at that point, Joseph was afraid of that cat.
Joseph sleeps by the window in the bowl part of his cat tree. He likes being on the patio. Sometimes sticks his face outside the glass, but he's too big to squeeze onto the ledge.
My favorite thing about Joseph -- he has never scratched me on purpose. He's so gentle and loves to cuddle. He generally doesn't like to be touched until he's ready to be touched. I'm not sure if tag is a part of his plan, but I might chase him around until he plops onto his back and lets me touch his belly or pet his head.
I'd love for Joseph to go to a home where he has space to explore and play. It was sustainable when he was smaller, but now he's getting bigger. I don't have the space or availability to continue to give him the attention he deserves. All of his toys, litter, and food will go with him, if acceptable.
